When logging in to the XM Trading member page, use the same ID and password as MT4/MT5. You cannot change your ID, but you can easily change your password. XM recommends two-factor authentication because there is a risk that a third party may reset your password without permission.
What is two-factor authentication?
Perform two-step authentication when changing passwords. In addition to the default authentication method, you can add a second step authentication method.
By enabling two-factor authentication, you can prevent malicious third parties from changing or resetting your password without permission.
There are two types of two-factor authentication methods
There are actually two ways to do two-factor authentication with XM. Choose the method that is most convenient for you. Select “Two-step verification” from “Account” in the top menu. (The following is the Japanese version page)
If you choose two-step verification, you will be able to choose from two additional verification features: security questions and OTP verification. Selecting one of these options will add an extra layer of security to your account details on our Members Area.
Security question
Security questions are a method of verifying your identity by entering the correct answers to pre-configured questions.
There are a total of five questions that can be set, and you can select and set one of your favorite questions.
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
What’s your mother’s maiden name?
What was the name of your first pet?
What is the name of your high school?
What is your favorite movie title?
If you want to use security questions, it is important to set questions that only you know. It’s not a good idea to make someone think of an answer.
It’s also a good idea to dare to set the wrong answer. The lower the relevance of the answer to the question, the greater the chance of a random win.
OTP authentication
OTP authentication is an abbreviation for One Time Password, and is a method of authenticating a user by entering a one-time password that is issued each time the password is changed. To use XM’s OTP authentication, you need to install “Google Authenticator” on your smartphone.
A QR code for OTP authentication will be displayed. Read the QR code displayed from the smartphone app “Google Authenticator”, enter the code displayed in the app, and click “Activate”. After entering the code, the OTP authentication setting is complete.
